V20 Sport at GOfatbike
The V20 Sport is one of the newer models in the V20 range, featuring a slightly sportier look and full equipment. You get a removable battery, Shimano gears, and dual suspension, all mounted on a sturdy steel frame. The seating remains upright and the tires stay wide, so the sporty touch doesn’t compromise comfort. This gives you the comfort foundation of the V20, dressed up with a sleeker appearance. Below, we go through what the V20 Sport offers and what to watch out for before you choose.
Seating and Comfort
On the V20 Sport, you sit upright and maintain a good overview, even in busy traffic. The long, stitched saddle is comfortable and spacious, with room for a passenger on the back. That stitched saddle immediately gives the bike a polished look and remains comfortable on longer rides. The dual suspension absorbs some of the shocks when the road gets rough. Despite the name, this isn’t a bike you sprint forward on bent over; the sporty aspect is mainly in the look and equipment. Comfort and stability still come first.
Range and Battery
The V20 Sport has a larger 48-volt (18.2 Ah) battery that you can remove from the frame to charge indoors. Because you can take the battery out, you don’t have to bring the whole bike to the outlet, which is handy if you store it outside. How far you go depends on your weight, the wind, how often you accelerate, and the level of assistance. So, expect a margin rather than a fixed number. Thanks to the somewhat larger battery, you usually have plenty of range for daily rides. The LCD display keeps you informed about speed, distance, and battery level.
Motor, Speed, and Regulations
The motor delivers 250 watts and assists up to 25 km/h. Beyond that, you pedal on your own, without assistance. There is no throttle: you move forward by pedaling, with pedal assistance that you control in steps. This keeps the V20 Sport a regular electric bike, without a license, registration, or helmet requirement. Modifying the bike is not a good idea. It then falls outside the legal category, brakes and frame are tuned for the allowed speed, and your warranty becomes void.
Tires, brakes, and riding feel
The 20-inch offroad tires provide grip on asphalt, cobblestones, and paths through the forest or park. They roll heavier than narrow city tires but offer a calm and stable ride. You adjust the tire pressure depending on where you ride: slightly softer for cushioning and grip, slightly harder for easier rolling on the street. The hydraulic disc brakes respond well, even in the rain, and require little force. With the Shimano gears, you easily choose the right pedaling resistance, for example when starting off or climbing a hill. The downside remains the weight: you can’t just lift a fatbike like this easily.
Who is this fatbike for
The V20 Sport is for those who ride daily and want a bike that looks sporty without sacrificing comfort. For commuting, shopping, and weekend rides, it’s a great combination, even with a passenger on the back. Thanks to the larger battery, this model is also suitable for longer rides. What you shouldn’t expect is a light, agile sports bike: the seating is upright and the weight is higher than a regular city bike. If you mainly want a comfortable fatbike with a sleek look and full equipment, the V20 Sport is worth checking out.
