Comfort and riding position

The aluminum frame keeps the Roam ST light in the turns and steady on the road. Up front is a 100 mm Zoom suspension, and at the rear a 60 mm DNM suspension, together smoothing out bumps and curbs before you feel them in your wrist or back. The 27.5-inch Kenda tires, 2.35 inches wide, provide grip and a calm, stable ride. Your riding position is upright and relaxed, designed for daily rides rather than a sporty, forward-leaning posture. Especially if you ride the same route every day, you’ll notice how much more comfortable that is than a tight, forward-leaning frame.

Range and battery

The 720 Wh LG battery (36V, 20Ah) takes you quite far, enough for a week of commuting without recharging in between. Exactly how far you get depends on your weight, the wind, hills, and the mode you choose, so expect a range rather than a fixed number. If you mostly ride calmly in an economical mode, you’ll get more out of it than if you constantly accelerate hard. The battery fully charges in about two hours, so you can quickly get back on the road. This makes charging more of an exception than a routine.

Motor, torque, and regulations

The mid-drive motor delivers a torque of 100 Nm, allowing you to accelerate directly from a standstill and tackle a hill without puffing. A torque sensor detects how hard you pedal and naturally adjusts the assistance, making the ride feel smooth. The motor assists up to 25 km/h and then cuts out, with no throttle. This means the Roam ST counts as a regular electric bike: no license, registration, or helmet required. We advise against tuning it up, as that would take the bike out of this category and void your warranty.

Gears, brakes, and luggage

You shift with the Shimano Nexus hub with five gears, which is also handy when stopped at a traffic light. The hydraulic Tektro HD-R280 180 mm disc brakes front and rear bring you to a quick and controlled stop, even in the rain. The included luggage rack carries your bag or groceries with a total load capacity of 120 kg, making the bike practical for daily rides. All in all, the Roam ST rides calmly, powerfully, and predictably.

Who is this model for

The Roam ST suits those who bike to work every day and encounter bridges or hills along the way. The strong torque makes starting and climbing easy, and the luggage rack lets you easily carry your stuff. If you prefer a relaxed, upright posture and convenience over a sporty position, this bike is a good fit. It’s less suitable if you want something very light to carry often: with the suspension, large battery, and rack, it weighs a bit more. That’s the trade-off.
