Description

Looking for a bike that lets you smoothly navigate the city and cover a long distance without needing to recharge? The Roam takes you up to 150 km on a single charge, making charging the exception rather than the rule.

Comfortable riding on wide tires and dual suspension

The 20-inch aluminum frame puts you in an upright, relaxed riding position. The 100 mm front fork and 60 mm rear suspension absorb bumps and curbs, so you feel the road much less in your wrists and back. The wide Kenda 27.5x2.35 tires on 27.5-inch wheels roll steadily and hold their line, even on uneven surfaces.

Smooth acceleration with quiet mid-drive motor and reliable brakes

The 250W mid-drive motor is mounted low in the frame and pushes you forward evenly from a standstill, making hill climbs noticeably easier. You can choose from multiple support levels, from Eco for maximum range to Turbo for extra power, with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. The hydraulic Tektro HD-R280 disc brakes front and rear allow you to brake quickly and controlled, even in the rain. Front and rear lights with K-marking and the Shimano Nexus hub with 5 speeds complete the package.

Large 720 Wh battery that charges quickly

The 36V 20Ah LG battery delivers 720 Wh, perfect for those long rides without worrying about battery level. It fully charges in about 2 hours, so you’re quickly back on the road. Integrated theft protection with GPS tracking and smartphone control keeps an eye on your bike.

Hop on the Roam and ride your regular route with kilometers to spare.

Mapfour Roam at GOfatbike

The Mapfour Roam is an electric bike designed to cover long distances with a load. Handy if you ride through the city and don’t want to charge every day. You sit upright on an aluminum frame, the mid-drive motor provides smooth assistance, and the dual suspension absorbs bumps and curbs. The wide Kenda tires keep you stable on the road. In this explanation, we go through what the Roam can do, from the battery to the brakes, and what to consider before you choose.

Comfort and riding position

The aluminum frame keeps the Roam light enough for easy handling. Up front there is 100 mm of suspension, and 60 mm at the rear, together smoothing out bumps and curbs so you feel less strain in your wrists and back. The wide 27.5 x 2.35 Kenda tires roll steadily and hold their line, even on uneven roads. Your riding position is upright and remains comfortable on longer rides. Comfort is the priority here, not a sporty racing posture. If you want that, you’d be better off looking at a different type of bike.

Range and battery

The LG battery delivers 720 Wh, enough for long rides without constantly worrying about the charge level. How far you go depends on your weight, the wind, hills, and the mode you choose. So expect a range, not a fixed number. The battery fully charges in about two hours, so you won’t be stopped for long. Built-in theft protection with GPS tracking and control via your phone keeps an eye on the bike, which is great if you park it outside.

Motor, speed, and regulations

The 250-watt mid-motor is positioned low in the frame and pushes you evenly from a standstill, making climbing noticeably easier. You can choose from multiple modes, from Eco for the longest range to Turbo for extra boost, with support up to 25 km/h. Above that speed, the motor disengages and you pedal on your own. There is no throttle, so the Roam counts as a regular electric bike: no license, registration, or helmet required. We advise against tuning it, as that would take the bike out of this category and void your warranty.

Gears, brakes, and lighting

You shift with the Shimano Nexus hub with five gears. A nice feature of a hub is that you can shift while stationary, for example at a traffic light. The hydraulic Tektro HD-R280 disc brakes front and rear bring you to a quick and controlled stop, even in the rain. Front and rear lights with K-marking ensure you are well seen in the dark. Altogether, the Roam rides smoothly and predictably, exactly what you want for daily city rides.

Who is this model for

The Roam suits those who travel longer distances daily and don’t want to charge often. The large battery and relaxed riding position make it suitable for commuting and weekend rides. If you prefer comfort and convenience over a sporty, aggressive posture, this bike is a good fit. It is less suitable if you want something light and nimble to frequently carry or take on the train, as the suspension and large battery add some weight. That’s the trade-off typical for this type.
