You shift gears with the Shimano seven-speed, handy for a bridge or headwind. Braking is done with Tektro disc brakes, which brake evenly and predictably, even in the rain. An updated headlight ensures visibility in the dark. Due to the compact design, the bike steers a bit more directly than a large city bike; it takes some getting used to, but then it rides light and smoothly.
