ENGWE E26 at GOfatbike
The ENGWE E26 in black is an electric fatbike with a low step-through frame, designed for comfortable rides in daily use. The low frame makes it easy to get on and off without lifting your leg high. You sit upright, the motor assists as soon as you start pedaling, and the wide 26-inch tires keep the ride smooth. Below you can read what the E26 has to offer before making a choice.
Low step-through and comfort
The low step-through is the first thing you notice about the E26. You don’t have to lift your leg high to get on, which is convenient if you often get on and off the saddle, for example when shopping or taking short rides around the city. The suspension in the front fork and the sprung seat post absorb much of the vibrations, so bumps and curbs feel less harsh. You can adjust the handlebars and saddle to tailor the riding position to your height. If you prefer a sporty, forward-leaning ride, a low step-through frame is less suitable.
Range and battery
With a full battery, the E26 can take you quite far. As a guideline, you can expect around 75 kilometers with average assistance, enough for commuting and longer weekend rides. Consider this range as an indication, not a strict promise per kilometer, since your weight, wind, tire pressure, and chosen assistance level all affect how far you go. Pedaling at a lower assistance level extends the range. Using higher motor assistance drains the battery faster. An empty battery can be fully recharged in a few hours, so the bike is quickly ready for the next ride.
Motor, speed, and regulations
The E26 has a 250W motor that assists as soon as you start pedaling. The assistance continues up to 25 km/h and cuts out above that, just like a regular electric bike. There is no throttle to ride without pedaling, so you keep pedaling yourself. This means the bike counts as a normal e-bike and you don’t need a driver’s license, registration, or helmet. Keep the bike that way: tuning it to go faster is tempting, but then it no longer counts as a regular e-bike and your warranty will be void.
Tires, brakes, and riding feel
The wide 26-inch tires give the E26 a stable and smooth riding experience. They grip the road well and provide traction on sand, wet cobblestones, or forest paths, without quickly feeling like you’re slipping. Braking is done with hydraulic disc brakes, which slow down firmly with little force on the lever, even when it has rained. The downside of a fatbike is the weight: it stays firmly on the road, but lifting and carrying it upstairs takes more effort than a regular city bike. While riding, you hardly notice this, because once you’re on the move, the motor does the heavy work.
Who is this fatbike for
The E26 suits you if you’re looking for a comfortable bike for daily rides and occasionally longer trips. The low step-through frame makes it suitable for those who want to get on and off easily, and the upright seating position is comfortable for your back on longer rides. If you’re looking for a light, sporty bike to pedal hard, this is not the best model for that. If you mainly want to ride calmly and relaxed, with enough range for daily distances, this is a good choice.
