Is the T14 legal?
Yes. The T14 only assists you if you pedal yourself and stops at 25 km/h, with a 250W motor and no throttle. This makes it simply an electric bike, not a moped. So you are allowed to ride it anywhere you can ride a regular bike.
How fast does the T14 go, and am I allowed to increase its speed?
The T14 supports speeds up to 25 km/h. Faster is not allowed: once you modify a folding bike to go faster, it is legally considered a moped. You are then required to have insurance, a license plate, and a helmet, and your warranty becomes void. With our bikes, you ride safely within the rules.
Do I need a driver's license, insurance, or registration for the T14?
No. Because the T14 supports speeds up to 25 km/h, it counts as a regular bike. No driver's license, no license plate, no mandatory insurance. A bike insurance against theft or damage is smart, but that’s up to you.
From what age are you allowed to ride the T14?
There is no legal minimum age for an electric bike like the T14 in the Netherlands. Anyone can ride it, and a helmet is not mandatory.
How far can you go with the T14 on a single battery charge?
With the T14, you can ride about 42 km on a full battery. The exact distance depends on your speed, your weight, how much assistance you use, and the wind.
What warranty do I get on the T14?
You get a 3-year warranty on the frame and 1 year on the moving parts. If something breaks during that period due to a manufacturing defect, we will take care of it for you.

ENGWE T14 at GOfatbike

The ENGWE T14 is a compact electric folding bike that you can fold down and unfold in just a few steps. Convenient if you combine short city rides with the train, bus, or limited storage space at home. You pedal along, the motor assists as soon as you start moving, and the suspension absorbs the worst bumps from curbs and cobblestones. This model is the orange version; below we calmly go through what the T14 can and cannot do for you.

Compact folding and portability

Folding is what the T14 is all about. The frame folds in the middle, the handlebars go down, and within seconds you have a compact package that you can take inside or tuck away in a corner. Weighing around 26 kilos, you can lift it over a threshold or a few steps, although it’s not a bike you can effortlessly carry up stairs; keep that in mind if you live high up without an elevator. The handlebars and saddle are height adjustable, so riders of various heights can find a comfortable riding position.

Motor, speed, and regulations

The T14 has a 250W motor that assists you as soon as you start pedaling. The assistance stops around 25 km/h; above that, you pedal on your own power. There is no throttle, so you have to keep pedaling yourself. Because of this, the bike is classified as a regular electric bike, and you don’t need a driver’s license, registration, or helmet. Keep the bike that way; removing the speed limiter to go faster voids the regular e-bike status and warranty, not to mention the risks on the road.

Range and charging

On paper, the T14 reaches about 42 kilometers with a full battery. Consider this a guideline, not a promise: your own weight, headwind, the chosen support level, and the number of times you start from stoplights determine how far you really get. If you ride a lot in the highest setting or take a hill, the range decreases. An empty battery takes roughly six to eight hours to fully charge again, so you can recharge it calmly overnight or during the day.

Suspension, brakes, and tires

Front and rear suspension together absorb the shocks from curbs, tram rails, and rough roads, which is a nice relief on the small 14-inch wheels. Those small wheels make the bike agile in heavy traffic and on narrow paths, but they respond more directly to potholes than larger wheels; so watch ahead. You brake with mechanical disc brakes that work well even in the rain. Front and rear lights are built-in, so you stay visible in the dark without carrying separate lamps.

Who is this folding bike for

The T14 is best suited for people who make short to medium city rides and want to store or take the bike along in between. Think of commuters who travel part of the way by public transport, residents of a small apartment, or those who occasionally put the bike in the back of the car. If you’re looking for a bike for long sporty rides or tough unpaved paths, a larger model with thicker tires makes more sense. For daily back-and-forth in the city, the T14 is practical.

Ordering at GOfatbike

At GOfatbike, you choose the ENGWE T14 in the color that appeals to you; this version is orange, and there is also a white version. If you’re unsure between the folding bike and a larger model, calmly consider the use you have in mind: carrying and storing a lot, or mainly long rides. The ENGWE T14 is available at GOfatbike.
