Is the L20 3.0 Pro legal?
Yes. The L20 3.0 Pro only assists you when you pedal yourself and stops at 25 km/h, with a 250W motor and no throttle. This makes it simply an electric bike, not a moped. So you are allowed to ride it anywhere you can ride a regular bike.
How fast does the L20 3.0 Pro go, and am I allowed to increase its speed?
The L20 3.0 Pro supports speeds up to 25 km/h. Faster is not allowed: once you modify a folding bike, it is legally considered a moped. You are then required to have insurance, a license plate, and a helmet, and your warranty becomes void. With our bikes, you ride safely within the rules.
Do I need a driver's license, insurance, or registration for the L20 3.0 Pro?
No. Because the L20 3.0 Pro supports up to 25 km/h, it counts as a regular bike. No driver's license, no license plate, no mandatory insurance. However, bike insurance against theft or damage is a smart idea, but that’s up to you.
From what age are you allowed to ride the L20 3.0 Pro?
There is no legal minimum age for an electric bike like the L20 3.0 Pro in the Netherlands. Anyone can ride it, and wearing a helmet is not mandatory.
How far can you go with the L20 3.0 Pro on a single battery charge?
With the L20 3.0 Pro, you can ride about 110 km on a full battery. The exact distance depends on your speed, your weight, how much assistance you use, and the wind.
What warranty do I get on the L20 3.0 Pro?
You get a 3-year warranty on the frame and 1 year on the moving parts. If something breaks during that period due to a manufacturing defect, we will take care of it for you.

ENGWE L20 3.0 Pro at GOfatbike

The ENGWE L20 3.0 Pro is a foldable electric fatbike. Compact when folded, fully functional once you hop on. The 3.0 Pro version comes with wide tires, a removable battery, and pedal assist up to 25 km/h. Convenient for city use, comfortable for longer rides. A bike you use without much thought. Below we calmly explain what this model can do and for whom it might be less suitable.

Low step-through and comfort

The L20 3.0 Pro has a low step-through frame. You don’t have to swing your leg over it; you just step through. That’s handy in a busy parking lot, at a traffic light, or when you want to hop on quickly. The saddle and handlebars are upright, so you sit relaxed and straight, not hunched forward. If you’re less flexible or don’t like lifting your knee high, you’ll notice the difference immediately. Sporty cyclists sometimes find a low step-through too relaxed. That’s honestly the downside of all that convenience.

Range and battery

The battery is removable. You can click it out and charge it indoors next to a power outlet without lugging the whole bike upstairs. We prefer to be honest rather than boast about the range. It’s generous, yes. But how far you get depends on your weight, the wind, the assist level, and how much you pedal yourself. Taking it easy on a low assist level with the wind at your back, you’ll go quite far. Full throttle against the wind with a heavy bag on the back, the range drops noticeably. That’s how it works with every e-bike, and this model is no exception.

Motor, speed, and regulations

The motor delivers 250W and supports up to 25 km/h. After that, the assistance stops and you pedal on your own power. There is no throttle; you only get assistance while pedaling. That is exactly why this bike counts as a regular electric bike: 250W, up to 25 km/h, pedal assistance, and no throttle. No driver's license, no registration plate, no helmet requirement. We advise against tuning it up. Doing so removes the bike from that category, and the motor simply isn't built for it.

Tires, brakes, and riding feel

The wide tires make it a true fatbike. They provide more grip, chew up a curb, and roll smoothly over a sandy path or wet road surface. You feel the road less harshly beneath you. The riding feel is stable and a bit heavier than a bare city bike. That makes sense, with thick tires and a battery on board. You brake with disc brakes, which still work well even in heavy rain. Get used to the weight when lifting and folding it, then it rides wonderfully smoothly.

Who is this model for

This model is for someone who wants to sit comfortably yet remain flexible. You fold it smaller, so it can fit in a trunk, a storage space, or come along on a trip. Commuters, grocery riders, weekend cyclists: they get a lot out of it. If you’re looking for a tiny, super-light folding bike to carry under your arm onto the train, this isn’t it. With thick tires and a battery, it remains a sturdy bike, not a featherweight. If you’re unsure between a low and a high step-through, choose based on how you get on, not on how it looks.

Ordering at GOfatbike

The ENGWE L20 3.0 Pro comes in several colors. So first you choose the model, then the shade you like best. If you’re still unsure, place it next to another model and pay attention to the step-through, weight, and how you want to use it. Customer reviews from other riders will help you a long way. The L20 3.0 Pro is available at GOfatbike.
