Is the MD10 Premium legal?
Yes. The MD10 Premium only assists you if you pedal yourself and stops at 25 km/h, with a 250W motor and no throttle. This makes it simply an electric bike, not a moped. So you are allowed to ride it anywhere you can ride a regular bike.
How fast does the MD10 Premium go, and am I allowed to increase its speed?
The MD10 Premium supports speeds up to 25 km/h. Faster is not allowed: once you modify a fatbike to go faster, it is legally considered a moped. You are then required to have insurance, a license plate, and a helmet, and your warranty becomes void. With our bikes, you ride safely within the rules.
Do I need a driver's license, insurance, or registration for the MD10 Premium?
No. Because the MD10 Premium supports up to 25 km/h, it counts as a regular bike. No driver's license, no license plate, no mandatory insurance. A bike insurance against theft or damage is smart, but that is up to you.
From what age are you allowed to ride the MD10 Premium?
There is no legal minimum age for an electric bike like the MD10 Premium in the Netherlands. Anyone can ride it, and wearing a helmet is not mandatory.
How far can you go with the MD10 Premium on a single battery charge?
With the MD10 Premium, you can ride about 70 km on a full battery. The exact distance depends on your speed, your weight, how much assistance you use, and the wind.
What warranty do I get on the MD10 Premium?
You get a 3-year warranty on the frame and 1 year on the moving parts. If something breaks during that period due to a manufacturing defect, we will take care of it for you.

ApeRyder MD10 premium at GOfatbike

The ApeRyder MD10 premium is the fatbike from the series with the low step-through frame. You don’t have to lift your leg high to get on, which makes it comfortable for those who want an easy mounting experience. Beyond that, you get the familiar setup: upright seating, wide tires, and a motor that assists as soon as you pedal. In this explanation, we’ll go through what the MD10 premium does well, who it’s intended for, and what to watch out for before you choose.

Low step-through and seating position

The most striking feature of the MD10 premium is the low step-through frame. Because the frame is lower, you don’t have to swing your leg high over the saddle and can easily get on and off. Handy if you’re a bit less flexible, often carry groceries, or just want to mount without effort. Once on the road, you sit upright, with your hands resting lightly on the handlebars. It’s not a bike for a sporty, forward-leaning posture, but one to sit on comfortably and calmly. That ease is the starting point of this model.

Range and battery

The battery is integrated into the frame and provides enough power for your daily rides. How far you get on a charge depends on your weight, the wind, the level of assistance, and how often you accelerate from a stoplight. So think in terms of a range, not a fixed number. Riding calmly with light assistance gives more range than constantly riding on the highest setting. When the battery runs out, you recharge it at a power outlet. For commuting and grocery runs, the capacity is sufficient. If you prefer to remove the battery to charge it indoors, it’s best to check in advance how that works with the chosen model. For a daily route, recharging is quick and easy.

Motor, speed, and regulations

The MD10 premium has a 250-watt motor with assistance up to 25 kilometers per hour. You pedal yourself and there is no throttle, so the bike counts as a regular electric bike. No license, registration, or helmet is required. We advise against tuning the motor. Above the allowed limit, the bike falls outside the category of regular e-bikes, the brakes and frame are not designed for it, and your warranty will be void. Therefore, keep the assistance at the standard setting.

Tires, brakes, and riding feel

The wide fatbike tires give the MD10 premium grip on the street, grass, or a loose sand path and absorb some of the vibrations. Together with the low step-through frame, this provides a calm, accessible riding experience. The brakes bring the bike to a smooth stop, even in the rain. The riding feel is calm rather than sprint-oriented. Keep in mind that the sturdy build makes the bike heavier than a regular city bike, so lifting it on stairs or into a car requires strength.

Who is this fatbike for

The MD10 premium is for those who value easy mounting and comfortable seating. Great for commuting, shopping, and weekend rides, and nice if you dislike a high frame. To be honest: this is a comfort model, not a sporty bike for sharp and fast riding. If you want a sporty posture or a light bike to lift often, another type is more suitable. If you want ease of mounting and a relaxed ride, this is a good choice.
