Is the Jambo Pro legal?
Yes. The Jambo Pro only assists you when you pedal yourself and stops at 25 km/h, with a 250W motor and no throttle. This makes it simply an electric bike, not a moped. So you are allowed to ride it anywhere you can ride a regular bike.
How fast does the Jambo Pro go, and am I allowed to increase its speed?
The Jambo Pro supports speeds up to 25 km/h. Faster is not allowed: once you modify a fatbike to go faster, it is legally considered a moped. You are then required to have insurance, a license plate, and a helmet, and your warranty becomes void. With our bikes, you ride safely within the rules.
Do I need a driver's license, insurance, or registration for the Jambo Pro?
No. Because the Jambo Pro supports speeds up to 25 km/h, it counts as a regular bike. No driver's license, no license plate, no mandatory insurance. However, bike insurance against theft or damage is a smart idea, but that’s up to you.
From what age are you allowed to ride the Jambo Pro?
There is no legal minimum age for an electric bike like the Jambo Pro in the Netherlands. Anyone can ride it, and a helmet is not mandatory.
How far can you go with the Jambo Pro on a single battery charge?
With the Jambo Pro, you can ride about 80 km on a full battery. The exact distance depends on your speed, your weight, how much assistance you use, and the wind.
What warranty do I get on the Jambo Pro?
You get a 3-year warranty on the frame and 1 year on the moving parts. If something breaks during that period due to a manufacturing defect, we will take care of it for you.

ApeRyder Jambo pro at GOfatbike

The ApeRyder Jambo pro is in the mid-range of the series and is the upgraded version of the regular Jambo. This model received upgrades on a few parts, making the whole feel a bit sturdier without immediately reaching the top model. You sit upright, the tires are wide, and the motor assists as soon as you start pedaling. In this explanation, we go through what the Jambo pro does well, who it is intended for, and what to watch out for before you choose.

Entry and comfort

When you get on, you notice that the Jambo pro is built for a calm, upright riding position. Your hands rest loosely on the handlebars and your feet reach the pedals well. This is not a bike to sprint forward hunched over, but one to sit on relaxed. That makes it suitable for commuting, running errands, or a longer ride on the weekend. If you’re looking for a sporty, aggressive posture, another type of bike makes more sense. The comfort of the seating is the starting point here.

Range and battery

The battery is integrated into the frame and provides enough power for your daily rides. How far you get on one charge depends on your weight, the wind, the support level, and how often you accelerate from a stoplight. So, assume a margin rather than a fixed number. Riding calmly with light assistance gives more range than constantly riding on the highest setting. When the battery runs out, you recharge it at a power outlet. For normal use on the go, that’s enough. If you want more certainty about the distance, keep a fixed charging moment, for example at work or at home at the end of the day. That way, you start every ride with a full battery.

Motor, speed, and the rules

The Jambo pro rides with a 250-watt motor that supports up to 25 kilometers per hour. You pedal yourself and there is no throttle, so the bike counts as a regular electric bike. You do not need a driver's license, registration, or helmet requirement. We advise against tuning the motor. If you make the bike faster than allowed, it falls outside the category of regular e-bikes, the brakes and frame are not designed for it, and your warranty will be void. Therefore, keep the support at the standard setting.

Tires, brakes, and riding feel

The wide fatbike tires give the Jambo pro grip on the street, grass, or a path with loose sand and absorb some of the vibrations. The brakes bring the bike to a neat stop, even in the rain. Due to upgrades on some parts, the whole feels a bit sturdier than the regular Jambo. The riding feel remains calm and stable rather than sprint-oriented. The downside is the weight: a fatbike with this build is heavier than a regular city bike, so lifting it requires strength.

Who is this fatbike for

The Jambo pro is for those who want a step above the basic but are not necessarily looking for the most expensive top model. The upgraded parts give a sturdier feel, pleasant for those who use the bike daily and a bit more intensively. To be honest: if you want the largest battery and the most complete finish, you better look at the top model. And if you want to start as simply as possible, the regular Jambo is enough. The Jambo pro is exactly in between.
